What is CranioSacral Therapy?
CranioSacral Therapy was created by John E. Upledger, D.O., O.M.M., an osteopathic physician and researcher, more than 30 years ago. This therapy involves a gentle hands-on approach to detect and correct issues using the rhythm of the Craniosacral System. It aims to stimulate the body's natural healing mechanisms and reduce the adverse effects of stress on the central nervous system.
What is the CranioSacral System?
The Craniosacral System consists of membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that protect the brain and spinal cord. The release of restrictions along this system enhances the body's natural healing abilities, improving resistance against illnesses.
What conditions does CranioSacral Therapy treat?
CranioSacral Therapy has shown effectiveness in treating various medical conditions, including:
❖ Migraines and Headaches
❖ Chronic Neck and Back Pain
❖ Motor-Coordination Impairments
❖ Stress and Tension
❖ Infantile Disorders
❖ Traumatic Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries
❖ Chronic Fatigue
❖ Scoliosis
❖ Central Nervous System Disorders
❖ Emotional Difficulties
❖ Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ)
❖ Learning Disabilities
❖ Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
❖ Orthopedic Problems
… And Many Other Conditions
How is CranioSacral Therapy performed?
During craniosacral therapy, the individual remains fully clothed. The practitioner utilizes a gentle touch, typically no heavier than that of a nickel, to track the rhythm of the craniosacral system and identify any possible limitations and imbalances. Afterward, they apply subtle manual techniques to alleviate those problematic areas and ease undue tension on the spinal cord and brain. (Source: The Upledger Institute, Inc. 1991)
Are there any contraindications to receiving a CranioSacral Therapy session?
Certain conditions make CranioSacral Therapy unsuitable for individuals, including but not limited to brainstem tumor, recent aneurysm or cranial fracture, and concussion (within 6-8 weeks). Other contraindications include acute stroke (within 6-8 weeks), herniated medulla oblongata, spina bifida, Arnold Chiari Malformation, and cerebrospinal fluid leak.
How often should I do CranioSacral?
To ensure the best outcomes, it is advisable to book a CranioSacral session every two weeks. This time frame allows your body ample time to absorb the benefits of the therapy.
How long does it take for CranioSacral Therapy to work?
The effects of CranioSacral Therapy build up over time. It may take a while for your body to release tension and stop being in a flight or fight response. Typically, it takes around 3-4 hours of treatment to experience the initial shift and reach a form of genuine healing.

What is Reiki?
Reiki, pronounced as /ray-key/, refers to the universal life-force energy in and around all living beings. It is also a natural healing system created by Dr. Mikao Usui, which aids in the restoration of the body's energy flow that may have been affected by stress, illness, or trauma.
In Japan, the term Reiki encompasses a range of spiritual and healing practices. It does not solely refer to the Usui Shiki Ryoho system of healing that I personally practice and teach, which is based on the methods developed by Mikao Usui.
Is Reiki a religion?
The practice of Reiki is not associated with any particular religion, and it does not necessitate adherence to any specific set of beliefs in order to be effective.
What are the benefits of Reiki?
Reiki is a practice that complements Western medicine and can improve the effectiveness of medical treatments while reducing recovery time. Additionally, Reiki can promote personal growth by fostering self-awareness and compassion, and by helping to change negative behaviors. This can lead to a sense of peace, self-acceptance, and a more positive outlook on life.
How is Reiki performed?
During a Reiki session, the practitioner will use their hands to channel Reiki energy to the body, placing them directly on the body or hovering them just above it. During a Reiki session, the individual remains fully clothed.
Are there any situations where Reiki should not be used?
There are no known contraindications to receiving Reiki.
